A Royal Adventure!
Royal Wootton Bassett RFU's U14 squad were our guests on 27 November. Having been allocated pitch 1, the team were determined to give good account of themselves before a decent sized crowd of supporters. It quickly became clear that our pace across the backs was going to cause our guests difficulties. With our wings betting themselves on the outside, following some lovely slick hands in the backs, the score began to mount. Playing on the left wing, Alex frequently took the outside arc and showed the defence a clean pair of heels, finishing with a man-of-the-match winning four tries. Oz, playing at centre, and Arham, at 14, both also showed great pace a strength to score a try each. Despite a try to RWB, after a period of pressure near our line, when they rolled several phases through their giant number 8, the forwards also got on the score sheet. Following some clever interaction between Felix, at scrum half, and Louis and Conor, taking it in turns to put dents in the defence, Cameron crashed over for a well-deserved first try for the club. RWB fought gamely right to the end and they continued to run strongly at us and to put in some crunching tackles, but a couple more tries meant the Blues finished with a commanding 57-5 victory. The U14s now have a record for the season of 9 wins, one draw and one loss.
