Louise Endean - Club Manager

Louise has been involved at Newbury for 5 years as Club Manager. This involves the daily running of the club, organising things such as conferences, matchdays, Sundays, staff, stock, events, admin, and building management. This season Louise and her team have taken over kit washing which has made a huge difference for the players and managers. Since Louise has taken over she’s created an incredibly welcoming friendly atmosphere at Newbury. Due to her consistency and quality, the bar is always full after training on Sundays, and the other rooms in the clubhouse always have things going on such as dance classes, maternity classes, weddings, baby showers, birthday parties and more. Louise truly embodies the phrase “Everyone welcome”.

Favourite achievement this year...
“would have to be all the upgrades throughout the clubhouse. The flooring, the toilets, doors, furniture in the kickers.”

Looking forward to ...
“continued clubhouse upgrades. We need to get new windows, improving the pitch barrier, facias soffits and guttering’s, and continuing the bathroom upgrades with the men’s upstairs and then new furniture throughout the rest of the Wickens and Langdon.”

Most embarrassing moment...
“I dropped a whole plate of dinner on someone during matchday service. I’ll have to check but I think it was Zoe (women’s player). It wasn’t my fault, I was taking the dinner over and Jerry (women’s number 1 fan, and Pink Day Pink Lady) moved his chair back very quickly and sent me flying. I dropped the plate, it just hit her and the whole plate of food just went down her. I literally didn’t know where to stand or where to put myself, where to look or anything. I was absolutely mortified.”

Most like to go to dinner with ...
“Joe Marler. He’s all over social media and he seems hilarious.”

Previous clubs...
“I don’t have any previous rugby clubs, but have bought snooker and darts teams here. The bingo are now with us on Sunday too, and we have a lot of football up here too with summer tournaments. We also now have a really lovely relationship with the army rugby union who bring various festivals here throughout the year. And off the back of that we held the IDRC plate final here. The Vodafone games have been held here a few times. ”
“We are making home games into something big. We’re theming them throughout the year. Pink Day has become massive with the bands and the decorations and the balloons. Christmas has now become a big thing with the home games and the Christmas parties. They’re massive here now at Newbury. I’d love to do some stuff like that with the women’s game as that grows some pre match lunches and bigger things with bands if they have Saturday fixtures.”
