The Blues are forced to make two changes from last week’s squad due to unavailability and injury, Joe Pigott coming in for Anthony Hackett and Kyle Doel in for Ryan Davis, Blues are all in pink for the charity day raising money for a great cause in Cancer Research UK

Blues kick off on a cloudy afternoon in front of a big crowd, Windsor catch and soon have a penalty when Blues infringe at the tackle, Windsor kick to touch, lineout won they run at the Blues defence but lose the ball, Blues kick into Windsor’s half. Windsor gather and send a kick back into Blues half, Mike Walker takes in his own 22 and breaks a couple of tackles taking play back up to halfway before a forward pass gives Windsor a scrum, Windsor win their scrum and run the ball but good Blues defence takes them into touch.
Blues win their lineout and good runs from forwards Ben Hicks, Graham Stewart, Kyle Doel and Josh Love takes play back into Windsor’s half before a knock on halts their progress, Blues manage to regain possession and get up to Windsor’s 22 but again an error gives Windsor the ball. Windsor run out of defence before they put up a high kick, Blues take but lose the ball allowing Windsor to make ground getting well into Blues half before a knock on gives Blues a scrum, Blues win the scrum and Joe Pigott gets the ball to Dan Thorne, his kick is partly charged down, Iain Herriott is first there and sets off up field, he feeds the ball out to Toby Thorne who makes ground into Windsor’s half, Blues are penalised at the tackle allowing Windsor to clear to touch.
Lineout won Windsor knock on giving Blues a scrum, Blues run cross field from the scrum before Dan Thorne makes ground then releases Josh Bartlett to round the Windsor defence to score wide out the conversion just wide, 5-0, 10 min’s

Windsor infringe at the restart kick giving Blues a scrum on halfway which they win and run at the Windsor defence, Blues infringe at the tackle allowing Windsor to kick into touch, Blues disrupt the lineout and win the ball, Blues run the ball Iain Herriott release’s Toby Thorne who gets to half way before he is tackled and has to leave the pitch injured, Blues are awarded a scrum

Blues win their scrum but don’t get far before they lose the ball, Windsor run the ball but they cough up possession allowing Blues to kick into Windsor’s half, Windsor gather and run at Blues making good ground getting up to Blues 22 and winning a penalty which is slotted through the posts by Jack Gaylor 5-3, 17 mins

Blues restart kick is caught by Windsor who are quickly given a penalty at the tackle, they kick to touch, Windsor knock on at the lineout Blues play the advantage, a great Chris Guyatt run makes good meters before he releases Ben O’Shea who carries the momentum on then passes to Josh Love on to Tom Sanders who releases Iain Herriott to score, the conversion drifts wide 10-3, 21 mins

Windsor are front of the kicker at the restart giving Blues a scrum on halfway, Blues win their scrum and Josh Winfield picks up at the base, the ball is spread through the backs to Josh Bartlett who kicks into Windsor’s 22, Windsor gather and clear to touch just in their own half, lineout won Blues run at Windsor, Ollie Spanswick to Josh Winfield on to Dan Thorne who releases Josh Love but a knock on halts their progress, Windsor play the advantage and kick back into Blues territory. Blues catch and run the ball but again a mistake gives Windsor the scrum just in Blues half, Blues pack shove Windsor back and win a penalty which is kicked to touch, lineout won Blues pressure Windsor’s defence but the mistake comes and possession is handed over to Windsor who in turn don’t get far before they knock on, play comes back for Blues knock on Windsor scrum on halfway, scrum won Windsor run the ball up the left touch line but get ushered into touch.
Blues win their lineout then a penalty when Windsor infringe which is kicked to touch, Blues win their lineout and run the ball making good ground up the right hand side getting to the Windsor 22, Blues keep the ball live and spread play across the pitch, Iain Herriott to Josh Love to Steve Denner to score beside the left hand corner flag the conversion is just wide of the posts, 15-3, 32 min’s

Windsor take the restart kick, Blues gather and Josh Bartlett gets back to half way, Blues are penalised at the tackle, Windsor tap and go before kicking back into Blues 22, Blues take and kick to touch. Windsor win their lineout and run at Blues getting into Blues 22 winning a penalty wide out which is kicked to touch, Blues manage to steal the ball at the lineout, Windsor manage to charge down Blues clearance kick then win a penalty which is kicked to touch, Windsor attack again from their lineout but the Blues forwards shove them into touch. Blues win their lineout and kick out of defence, Windsor gather and put pressure on Blues defence who infringe, Windsor play on but are shoved into touch so play is brought back for the penalty.
Windsor kick to touch in Blues 22, lineout won Windsor put Blues defence under a period of pressure but Blues hold out and win a penalty on the try line under the posts allowing them to kick to touch and relieve the pressure. Lineout won Blues kick up field, Windsor gather and run the ball back at Blues before a chip kick is placed over the Blues defensive line the ball runs into the try area and Blues touch it down bringing the half time whistle.

Windsor hold on to their lineout and kick out of defence, Blues catch and run the ball and win a penalty Blues play advantage getting up to Windsor’s 22 but cough up possession, back for a penalty scrum to Blues. Scrum won Blues put pressure on the Windsor defensive line getting up to the 22 before they spill the ball allowing Windsor to kick clear to touch, Blues win the lineout then get a scrum which is won but a knock on gives the ball to Windsor.
Windsor under pressure from the Blues pack win their scrum and spread the ball across the pitch not making much forward progress, a mistake comes knock on giving Blues a scrum in the Windsor half. Windsor steal the scrum and spread the ball across the pitch before kicking into Blues half, Blues gather and return the kick, Windsor run the ball getting into Blues half before being tackled into touch, time out for injuries

Windsor win the lineout and their forwards maul up fields before releasing their backs who get up to Blues 22 but lose possession when Blues steal the ball at the tackle, Blues spoil their good work when they knock on.
Windsor hold their scrum and spread the ball across the pitch but infringe at the tackle giving Blues a penalty which is kicked to touch, lineout won Blues make progress getting to half way before a knock on in the tackle gives Windsor a scrum, Windsor just hold their scrum even though Blues are shoving them backwards, they spread the ball sideways and win a penalty which is kicked to touch. Blues steal the lineout and spread the ball through the backs across the pitch and after missing the first chance they redeem them selves for Steve Denner to score his second try, Dan Thorne converting, 29-3 66 mins

Windsor win their scrum and try out running out of defence, Blues infringe giving Windsor a penalty and a chance to clear and kick to touch.

Windsor win the lineout but a knock on gives Blues a scrum, Windsor steal the scrum and run but spill the ball, they hack up fields, Josh Bartlett gathers and chips the ball over the Windsor defenders he is tackled late giving Blues a penalty and earning Windsor’s prop a yellow card, Blues have a 5m penalty scrum. Blues win the scrum and get another penalty scrum, this time they win the scrum but knock on trying to get over the line, Windsor hold their scrum and the forwards pick and drive before they kick out of defence, Blues gather but a knock on halts their progress.

Windsor win their scrum and take the ball across the pitch before kicking into Blues half, Newbury pick up and run back at Windsor but a knock on halts their progress, Blues pack make amends winning a penalty at the scrum which is kicked to touch giving Blues a 5m lineout. Blues win the lineout and the forwards maul then try the pick and drive attack before Ben O’Shea manages to twist and turn to get over the line and score the conversion just wide, 34-3, 78 min’s

Windsor’s restart kick is taking by Blues and kicked to touch, Windsor lose the lineout but infringe when crossing Windsor play advantage and run at Blues but lose the ball allowing Blues to launch another attack Josh Love making ground before releasing Mike Walker who rounds the Windsor defence to score under the posts Dan Thorne adds the conversion to make the final score 41-3

Newbury Stags travelled to Witney for a friendly against Witney II with a squad made up of some players who were returning from injury and some back in Newbury colours after spells away plus some regulars, losing to a strong side 21-8, Duncan Craigen scoring the try Richard West kicking a penalty
