With several players unavailable through injury etc the Blues field yet another different side against The Brixham Fishermen.

On a damp afternoon there’s a one minutes remembrance silence prior to the kick off

Brixham kick off, Blues gather and return the kick, Brixham run at Blues making good ground before they lose the ball, Blues run making good ground before Dan Thorne sends a grubber kick through the Brixham defence, the bounce doesn’t favour Blues and Brixham mange to gather under pressure and kick upfield. Blues run the ball back, but they lose possession in the Brixham half, Brixham run up to half way then send a kick bouncing into touch close to Blues 22, Blues win the lineout and kick into Brixham’s half, they gather and run before putting up a high kick, Blues gather and clear to touch.
Brixham win the lineout and their forwards maul getting into Blues 22 before they cough up possession but get it back when Blues knock on. Brixham win their scrum and keep the pressure on the Blues defence before they give away a penalty scrum, Blues win and clear to touch still in their own 22, Brixham’s lineout is not straight so Blues have a defensive scrum, from the scrum Blues clear upfield, Brixham run at Blues winning a penalty which then is moved forward 10m

Brixham kick to touch win the lineout and their forwards maul the yards required for their 2 Koree Britton to score Tom Putt converts 0-7 15 mins

Blues kick off long, Brixham return the kick, Blues run before putting up a high kick a good chase results with a penalty which is kicked to touch in Brixham’s 22, lineout won Blues spread the ball across the pitch then back Dan Thorne getting into Brixham’s 22 before a knock-on halts their progress. Brixham win the scrum and kick clear into touch in Blues half, Blues win the lineout and try running but don’t make any progress and lose the ball, Brixham attack and their forceful running take them into Blues 22 before a knock on gives Blues a chance to clear, from the scrum Blues run getting a penalty scrum which they win under pressure and clear to touch.
Brixham mount another attack from the lineout but a knock on gives Blues a scrum, from the scrum Blues kick to touch, Brixham concede a scrum at the lineout which Blues win and clear to touch, Blues win a penalty at the lineout and clear to touch still in their own half, Blues win the lineout but concede a penalty which Brixham’s 12 Tom Putt slots between the posts 0-10 32 mins

Blues restart kick is returned into touch by Brixham touching a Blues player so Brixham have the lineout, Blues have a scrum when the throw isn’t straight, from the scrum Blues attack getting up to Brixham’s 22, Brixham steal possession and kick, Richard West charges down the kick and is first to the loose ball to touch down under the posts, Ryan Trevaskis converts 7-10 36 mins

Brixham have the better of the final minutes and keep Blues penned in their own half, half time comes when Blues are awarded a penalty in their own 22 which is kicked to touch

Newbury kick off and a good chase and tackle is very marginally adjudged early, Brixham kick the penalty to touch, from the lineout their forwards maul good yards before they spread the ball wide getting up to Blues 22 before there are penalised for crossing, Blues clear to touch win the lineout and run but the rush defence by Brixham pushes Blues back and they steal the ball, Brixham pressure the Blues defence and win a penalty which Tom Putt kicks 7-13 45 mins

Brixham return Blues restart kick, Blues put up a high kick and again a good chase puts pressure on Brixham who chip the ball over Blues defence, Blues gather and a good run from Alex Millar takes play into Brixham’s 22, he release’s Dan Thorne who gets stopped just short, Blues keep the ball live and after a couple of phase’s Josh Winfield thunders over Ryan Trevaskis converts 14-13 50 mins

Brixham’s restart kick is carried into touch by Blues, Brixham win their lineout but knock on, Blues kick from the scrum, Brixham gather and set off on another attack before slotting another good kick into touch. Blues win the lineout and clear to touch, Brixham mount another attack through their forwards and get another penalty and Blues get a harsh yellow.

Graham Stewart on Ollie Spanswick off 58 mins

Brixham kick to touch win the lineout and their bigger and stronger forwards pick and drive through several phase’s eventually they break through to score through their 7 Joe Lovell Tom Putt converts 14-20 60 mins

Another good chase from the results in a marginal knock on, Brixham win their scrum and a penalty which is kicked to touch, from the lineout they again make good ground with their forceful running and get a strange penalty at the tackle which Tom Putt kicks 14-23 63 mins

Again a good chase by Blues Josh Bartlett keeps possession when he gets his hands on the ball, Blues attack and are rewarded with a penalty which sadly slides past the posts. Brixham take the 22 drop out and this time their chase means they keep the ball and win a penalty which they slot into touch in Blues 22. Lineout won Brixham get up to the try line but lose the ball allowing Blues to clear to touch, Brixham’s forwards maul from the lineout and win a penalty which chasing the try bonus point they kick to touch.

Anthony Hackett on Joe Pigott off

Blues steal possession and run out of defence before a good kick is carried into touch by Brixham, Blues end the match attacking Brixham’s defence to try and at least get a losing bonus point but luck is not with them today and a knock on in Brixham’s 22 brings the final whistle
