Newbury Blues score a last minute try to gain the try bonus point and keep up the 100% win and try bonus point record in a game that had more errors than usual

Blues are again forced to make changes due to injury and unavailability for the visit of Beaconsfield, their first time to play the Blues
Josh Bartlett achieves 100 caps and Henry Meredith makes his Blues debut

Blues kick off on a grey and wet afternoon, the kick is straight out so back to halfway for a Beaconsfield scrum, Blues win the scrum and attack a knock on halts their progress, Beaconsfield win their scrum and run the ball but give away a penalty at the tackle, Blues kick to touch, lineout won they attack but again lose the ball forwards, Beaconsfield win the scrum and kick the ball clear, Blues gather and run the ball but are penalised for crossing, Beaconsfield kick to touch on halfway.
Lineout won Beaconsfield spread the ball across the pitch but are tackled into touch well in Blues half, Blues win the lineout and after a couple of phases kick into touch in Beaconsfield half, Blues steal the lineout and run the ball, again a knock-on halts their progress, Beaconsfield win their scrum and kick clear, Blues knock on. Beaconsfield win the scrum and attack getting into Blues 22 before losing the ball, Blues try running out of defence before a good kick and chase means Beaconsfield’s clearing kick is charged down rolling into touch, Blues steal the lineout and attack but again are unable to keep the play moving as again they make a mistake giving Beaconsfield a chance to clear their lines, a knock on gives Blues an attacking scrum which they win and attack Beaconsfield winning a penalty which Dan Thorne kicks 3-0 14 mins

Blues return Beaconsfield kick they kick, Blues gather and run getting into Beaconsfield’s half before another knock on gives Beaconsfield a scrum, Beaconsfield put in a long kick which Blues knock on, Beaconsfield win the scrum and run at Blues before sending a neat kick bouncing into touch deep in Blues half, Beaconsfield steal the lineout and attack winning a scrum when Blues knock on in the tackle, scrum won Beaconsfield attack but concede a penalty at the tackle, Blues clear to touch win the lineout and a good Ryan Davis run takes play well into Beaconsfield territory, he offloads to Josh Winfield who makes more yards before being stopped, Beaconsfield concede a penalty at the tackle which Dan Thorne slots between the posts, 6-0 21 mins

Beaconsfield kick off Blues gather and run but another knock on gives Beaconsfield a scrum just outside Blues 22, Beaconsfield attack from the scrum taking play across the pitch then back but cannot break the Blues defence eventually they are penalised for crossing, Blues long kick doesn’t find touch but a good chase by Blues means Beaconsfield are pushed backwards, Blues win a scrum when Beaconsfield knock on, Blues win the attacking scrum and take play across field, good pressure by Blues takes play deep into Beaconsfield’s 22, Josh Winfield makes the breakthrough to score, Dan Thorne converts 13-0 30 mins

Beaconsfield kick off which Blues return, Beaconsfield put up a high kick and manage to regather when Blues let it bounce, Beaconsfield win a penalty at the tackle which they kick to touch in Blues 22, Beaconsfield knock on at the lineout giving Blues a 5m scrum, Blues run out of defence Dan Thorne making a good break, Blues win a penalty at the tackle which is kicked to touch on half way. Blues lineout isn’t straight, Beaconsfield take a lineout and run the ball, they don’t get far before knocking on, Blues win the scrum and run the ball getting up to Beaconsfield’s 22 winning a penalty which Dan Thorne kicks 16-0 38 mins

Beaconsfield have the better of the last few minutes of the first half but cannot break through the Blues defence before the half time whistle is blown, both teams retreat to the dry changing rooms

Beaconsfield kick off the second half and after a couple of scrums get a penalty which they kick to touch in Blues half, from the lineout they attack getting into Blues 22, a long pass bounces into touch but play is brought back for a Beaconsfield penalty which they kick to touch in Blues 22, lineout won Beaconsfield put pressure on the Blues defence which holds them out and manage to steal the ball and clear to touch.
Beaconsfield lineout isn’t straight so Blues have a scrum which they win and a Tom Martin run takes play over halfway, Blues keep the ball live making good ground until a knock on halts their progress, play is brought back for a Blues scrum in Beaconsfield 22, Blues push them back but are held up over the line, Blues win the scrum and attack, a grubber kick is touched down by Beaconsfield but play is brought back for a Blues penalty 5m scrum.
Blues pack push them back over the line but a knock on means a Beaconsfield 5m defensive scrum, from the scrum Beaconsfield pick and drive before clearing to touch, Blues win the lineout and run the ball, again a knock on stops their attack, Beaconsfield kick clear from the scrum, Blues run back getting into Beaconsfield’s 22 win a penalty which is kicked to touch, Beaconsfield steal the lineout but their kick is charged down into touch.

Beaconsfield win the lineout but knock on, Blues win the scrum but they knock on, Blues steal Beaconsfield’s scrum but soon lose the ball allowing Beaconsfield to clear to touch, Blues win the lineout and run the ball Ryan Davis and Josh Winfield making good ground getting well into Beaconsfield 22 before Beaconsfield intercept the offload and clear to touch, Blues have an attacking lineout which they win and the forwards maul, Blues get a penalty which they tap and go spreading the ball wide, Blues lose possession allowing Beaconsfield to clear to touch. Blues win the lineout and after a couple of phases put up a high kick, a good chase is rewarded when Beaconsfield knock on.
Blues win the scrum and get up to Beaconsfield’s 22 before yet another knock-on halts progress, Beaconsfield win the scrum and kick clear to touch, Blues win the lineout and run at Beaconsfield, Blues win a penalty scrum at the tackle, Blues get a penalty at the scrum which is kicked to touch, lineout won Blues take play across the pitch but play is brought back for a Blues penalty, Beaconsfield get a yellow card.

Beaconsfield restart Blues return the kick into touch on halfway, Beaconsfield’s lineout isn’t straight giving Blues a scrum, Blues hold their scrum and run at Beaconsfield, the ball is quickly spread wide and Tom Erskine is off up the left wing to score wide out, the long conversion is just short 28-0 74 mins

Beaconsfield kick off Blues run at Beaconsfield, Blues pass is touched forward giving them a scrum, Blues attack from the scrum taking play across the pitch but again a knock on halts their progress, Beaconsfield get penalised at the scrum, Blues tap and go getting up to the try line before being held up, Blues keep the ball live and Stephen Ansell dives over to score the vital bonus point try in the right hand corner, the conversion is just short, 33-0 full time
Blues manage to keep the 100% record intact but leave it to the last minute, mistakes and a good Beaconsfield defensive display keeps the game close until the final 10 mins
