Blues start the game with a bang going 8 points up but Launceston then take control and out play the misfiring Blues getting their first win this season

Launceston kick off Blues gather and return the kick, Launceston run at Blues taking play up to Blues 22 before a knock on halts their progress, Blues scrum is pushed back but Blues get a penalty which is cleared to touch, lineout won Blues put in another kick which is helped into touch by Launceston, Blues attack from the lineout getting up to Launceston’s 22 and winning a penalty which Dan Thorne kicks 3-0 5 mins

Launceston’s restart kick bounces into touch on Blues 22, Blues win a penalty at the lineout and kick to touch, lineout won Blues spread play across the pitch getting another penalty which is kicked to touch, Blues win their lineout and again spread the ball wide through the backs, Toby Thorne draws the defence and gives a great pass to James Lewis who cuts through the Launceston defence to score a good try, the long conversion is wide 8-0 10 mins

Blues gather Launceston’s restart kick gaining a penalty at the tackle, the kick fails to find touch allowing Launceston to attack, they get a penalty at the tackle plus 10m for Blues stupidity, the kick finds touch in Blues 22, lineout won their forwards maul before they spread the ball wide scoring wide out on the left 8-5 14 mins, Blues mistakes cost them

Blues kick off and the next few minutes both sides make mistakes before Launceston’s dominant forwards get a penalty at their scrum, the penalty is kicked 8-8 20 mins

Launceston are now in charge and put pressure on Blues from the restart kick, 2 needless Blues penalties later they are leading 8-11 25 mins

Blues restart and soon manage to regain the ball putting in a long kick and a good chase forces Launceston to clear to touch, Blues get a penalty which is kicked to touch, Blues attack from the lineout but lose the ball giving Launceston a scrum, Launceston kick clear from their scrum, Blues return the kick which Launceston gather and run back at Blues before a knock on halts their progress

Blues hold their scrum and take play across the pitch and back getting up towards Launceston’s 22 before a knock on halts progress, scrum won Launceston kick clear, Blues gather and a good kick rolls into touch in Launceston’s 22, lineout won Launceston kick clear, Blues gather and run but again Blues concede a silly penalty at the tackle, Launceston kick to touch, win their lineout and run at Blues breaking through poor Blues tackling to score under the posts 8-18 half time.

Blues kick off the second half and they have soon added to their score when after a couple of kicks Launceston knock on giving Blues a scrum, scrum won Alex Bancroft cuts through the Launceston defenders before releasing Chris Atkinson who is over to score, conversion is wide 13-18 42 mins

Blues gather the restart kick and run the ball before kicking deep into Launceston’s half, Launceston do the same putting a kick into Blues 22, Blues put up a high kick and manage to regather getting up to half way before knocking on, scrum won Launceston take play across the pitch before kicking into Blues 22, Blues gather and get a penalty, Blues tap and go taking play up to half way before conceding a penalty, Launceston kick to touch in Blues 22, lineout won Launceston attack but Blues manage to rip the ball in the tackle and run out of defence. Blues lose the ball allowing Launceston to attack and win a penalty which is slotted between the posts 13-21 51 mins

Blues kick off and a good chase results in Launceston’s clearance kick being charged down, Blues gather the loose ball and take play up to the 22, Blues get a penalty which they tap and go making ground and get a penalty scrum, Blues pack shove Launceston back winning another scrum which is then reset, scrum won Blues pick and drive through several phase’s but cannot make the final yards to score eventually they concede a penalty scrum for crossing. Blues again shove Launceston backwards getting a penalty which Dan Thorne kicks 16-21 60 mins

Launceston kick off and have soon managed to steal possession at the tackle, they take play across the pitch and up to Blues 22, Blues concede a penalty which they kick to touch, lineout won their forwards pick and drive putting pressure on Blues defence, Blues infringe giving Launceston a penalty scrum and Blues get a yellow

Launceston win their reset scrum and again their forwards pick and drive before spreading the ball into the centre of the pitch getting another 5m penalty scrum, Launceston’s pack push Blues backwards and they are over to score and convert 16-28 70 mins

Blues errors continue the kick off isn’t 10 then they concede a penalty at the scrum, Launceston clear to touch.

Chris Bird on Adam Neal off 73 mins

The remainder of the match remains scoreless with both sides making mistakes in the wet conditions, eventually Launceston kick to touch to bring the final whistle

Blues looked below par producing probably their worst performance for a long time, Blues need to cut out the needless penalties and mistakes to try and turn the poor start to the season into wins. The bottom four teams are now drifting away from the rest with a 7-point gap now separating them

Well done Launceston who played the conditions better and gained a well deserved first win of the season
