Newbury A’s kept up their 100% league record with an impressive win against Tadley III on Friday night, keeping them at the top of the league

Tadley III kick off the game, Newbury A’s run the ball but concede a penalty just in Tadley’s half. Tadley kick to touch in Newbury’s 22, Newbury steal the lineout and put Tadley’s defence under pressure with some good attacking rugby, Newbury get into Tadley’s half before Steve Denner breaks the tackle and release’s George Stevens who is away up the touch line and touches down under the posts Neil Owen converts 7-0 4 mins

Newbury attack from Tadley’s kick off getting back into their half before a knock on gives Tadley a scrum, from the scrum Tadley attack getting back into Newbury’s half before they lose the ball. Blues attack Nick Gallo making a decent run, after several phases of play Nathan Thomas having a run out at 8 crashes through several tackles to score close to the posts Neil Owen converts 14-0 10 mins

Tadley kick off and a couple of minutes later have cut through Newbury’s defence to score a good try team try 14-5 13 mins

For the next ten minutes both teams keep the ball for a few phases but mistakes end their attacks, eventually after some good rugby Nick Weston, Cameron Golby Barr & the forwards making some good runs the ball is spread wide through Yann Cullen to the backs allowing George Stevens to score his second try 19-5 24 mins

Newbury are first to add to their score and after spending some time camped in Tadley’s half a good Jamie McIntyre run helps to get them up to the line but a knock on allows Tadley to clear, Newbury don’t give up and after winning a lineout Nigel Cripps makes a good run on to Nick Weston keeps the ball moving, Nathan Thomas, Aaron Johnston,Stephen Ansell make more ground before the ball is again spread wide for George Stevens to go over for his hatrick try 24-5 30 mins

Tadley are not to be out done a couple of minutes later they have capitalised on a Newbury mistake to cut through the Newbury defence to score 24-10 33 mins

Newbury return the favour and a few minutes later a good spell of attacking rugby results in Jamie Street scoring a good team try

For the remaining minutes of the half Newbury keep Tadley under pressure Ben Sheratt making a good run taking play into Tadley’s 22 before a knock-on halts their progress, Tadley win the scrum and clear to touch, Half Time

Newbury kick off the second half and a great gather by Jamie Street takes play into Tadley’s 22 before a knock on gives Tadley a scrum Newbury’s forwards put on the pressure and Newbury get a scrum, Newbury shove Tadley back allowing Nathan Thomas to pick up and crash over for his second try 36-10 3 mins

Play for the next few minutes is pretty even until Newbury get a penalty which is kicked to touch, lineout won Newbury attack and Nathan Thomas charges through the Tadley defenders to score his hatrick try 41-10 12 mins

The remainder of the half is even with both sides having chances to score but good defence and mistakes means neither add to their points tally until the last few minutes when Newbury run the ball from their own half taking play through several phases, a good run from James McCarthy and some good passing rugby means Newbury get into Tadley’s 22 where they win a penalty, Newbury take a quick tap and Steve Denner rounds the defenders to score a good team try 46-10 and full time
