A fitting end to the season.

Berkshire Development Plate Final
Newbury U13’s 51 – Windsor U13’s 10

From the kick off a very focused Newbury poured on the pressure with a series of big hits and some aggressive rucking. They had a clear game plan of securing the ball and keeping it tight until the moment was right to spread the ball to the speedsters in the backs. Two early attacks out wide had Windsor on the back foot and it wasn’t long before the forwards and backs combined to score the first try through Oli Goodhind. The Blues forwards laid a fantastic platform with a scrum that was never going to go backwards and it wasn’t long before a sweeping move saw Arham heading over the line for the first of his five tries. The Blues with their confidence growing then gave a full display of their skills and the third try came from prop Lewis Hayman who crashed over the line for try number three. The back row hungry for the ball saw Will Greasley take a great line and force his way aver for try number 4. Back to the flying backs with two further tries from Joe Hayes, converted by Will Wakelam and number two for Arham. Half time 32 – 0

Windsor came out in the second half and gave there all and scored the first try of the second half with some nice running from their backs. The Blues then tightened their game up and with some great hands from the backs once again found space out wide for Arham to run in for his third try and a similar pattern followed for Arhams next try which also saw Lewis Hayman (tight head prop) landing the conversion. Windsor then gave one last push to regain some pride and with some good handling and strong running scored their second try. Time for one more from the Blues using their skill and pace to put Arham away for his fifth try of the game. Jack Weeks (loose head prop) not to be undone by Lewis Hayman converted the score. The final whistle, game over and a score of Newbury 51 – Windsor 10.

A fantastic team performance from all the boys and a truly great way to finish the season.

Well done to Aiden, Arham, Arjun, Christian, Ioan, Jack C, Jack W, Joe E, Joe H, Lewis H, Max M, Michael, Oli G, Oliver Walker, Ollie Basham, Sam S, Will G and Will W.
